Horsley Churchyard 2013
Iron Crosses amongst the stone in St. Martins Churchyard, Horsley, Gloucestershire, England

James Hyatt 1841 - 1914

Here is a photo of James Hyatt.

He was the elder brother of Charles Hyatt (bn 1831) whose grave is shown in an earlier posting.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if we were to find someone with a photograph of Charles?

James is photographed here with his second wife Jane Elliot (1842-1922)

Have you come across any connection to Noah Hyatt, b. 1858 in Gloucestershire..married Mary Ann Haynes from N. Staffordshire.Last known residence was in Stoke On Trent. Later emigrated to the US and settled in Iowa. Father of John, Noah, Samuel, and Mary and my paternal grandfather. James Hyatt, Ankeny, Iowa.

Sorry, but no I haven't. If you add more detail I will keep an eye out for you. When did they migrate and
where in Gloucestershire was Noah born ... I can find no references to a Noah Hyatt in 1858 but will keep looking.

Found your Noah ... he was born in Oldcroft , Gloucestershire in 1851.
He is shown, aged 30 an Ironstone Miner, in the 1881 census at 77 Paddock St Court, Shelton, Stoke-on-Trent with his wife Mary Ann born 1859 and daughters Laura born 1879 and Mary Ann born 1881
In the 1861, 1871 and 1881 Census his surname is spelled HyEtt but the births of Laura and Mary Ann are registered with the spelling HyAtt.
Looks like Noah migrated to Boston on the ship "KANSAS" arriving in Boston on 15 August 1883. The passenger list shows him on his ownsome and probably this is because his son Noah had only been born a few weeks beforehand. Noah Hyatt's birth was registered in June ¼ of 1883 in Stoke on Trent.
If you don't have copies of those census returns, please let me have your e-mail address. I won't publish it, but I will e-mail you the census pages.
All the best

Do you know anything about Frank E Hyatt (ie. who he married and the names of some of his children)? I am a decedent of a Frank E Hyatt from Brewster, NY and was wondering if he is any relation.

Hello Anonymous,
It would help if you gave me some idea of his dates.

If you can give me just a little more information I may be able to help you.
